EsnaviEsnavi, has been captivating music lovers worldwide since the release of her debut album, Exit E. Her musical feel can be compared to Lauryn Hill and Adele, but her distinct sound, thought provoking lyrics and blend of music set her apart.

What/who are you currently listening to?
This answer is so honest and so boring. No one. Ha ha! I have been in a non-music mode lately. Clearing my mind space as I’m working on my new album. However, I listen to Pandora and Sirius XM occasionally, but just as background music. So I can’t say I’m currently listening to anyone specific.

What advice would you give other aspiring musicians/artists?
Work consistently on your platform – You have to put in the work regardless if you have a team or not. Work on your craft, work on your image, work on your social media; Work on everything that can help your brand and presence. Be open to different opportunities – You never know how you might “get on”. Being open minded to things that may be out of your comfort zone. Be 100% passionate and determined about your vision- If you are extremely passionate and determined about what you want to do and where you want to be, nothing will take you off that mission. Of course, along the way things can become very discouraging but know that this journey is not a swift one. It takes time, and you have to be willing to enjoy the process with patience and faith.

If you could do a duet/perform with anyone who would it be? Michael or Prince?
Prince, hands down. I idolize him.

How long have you been making music and what is your process?
I’ve been making music since I was a teenager. My process varies. Sometimes, an idea will hit me and the lyrics just flow. Other times, I hear music and come up with a melody. Or other times, I’ll just write specifically about an experience or observation and develop the song from there. Within all of those processes, I always tap into my inner source and dig deep within to make sure I am connected to what I’m writing about and how I deliver it.

You’re on a deserted island for the rest of your life, what three things would you bring?
My cell phone, my battery pack and my charger! If I have my cell phone and I have battery life, I won’t be deserted too long! LOL

Favorite artist/song?
I’m not good at choosing one favorite thing. I like too many artists and songs. Today, I’ll say my favorite artist is Prince and my favorite song is Purple Rain. Tomorrow it might be Sade. Next week, Stevie Wonder!
